Considered one of the oldest divination systems in world history, the I Ching is a sacred book of wisdom that empowers a practitioner. The I Ching deals with the notion of “Change”. Origins
A Brief History of I Ching
One of the oldest texts in existence, the I Ching has a long history and has been translated into various languages over the years. The I Ching was originally a divination manual in the Western Zhou period (1000–750 BC), but over the course of the time, it has been utilized in many Chinese metaphysics application from Astrology (Bazi or Zi Wei Dou Shu), Feng Shui, Divination, Numerology, Augury and even Chinese medicine studies.
The word Yi (or I) often deals with the notion of “Change”. Changes bring about the unknown & anxiety. It is this unknown that ancients would like to know and find out so they can better manage the situation and make the best out of it. With this, having a strong foundation in I Ching is vital for success in the study of any of the Chinese Metaphysic subjects.
